Michelle Rodriguez Retracts Superhero Comment

Michelle Rodriguez has apologized for comments she made about white superheroes. The Fast and the Furious star recently made a comment where she said she thought that it was stupid that minorities were trying to steal “all the white people’s superheroes.”

The comment was made during an interview where it was Susan McGalla who asked if Rodriguez was being considered to play the Green Lantern. Rodriguez, who is hispanic, commented that she thought minorities should create their own superheros rather than trying to cast existing superheroes as minorities.

As one might expect, quite a few people were upset by her comments, making remarks on social media about her comment, and how unfortunate it is that she, as a minority in Hollywood, would have that view.

After all the outrage, Rodrigues posted a video on her Facebook page apologizing for the comment. She says she put her foot in her mouth, and that her comments were taken out of context. She also apologized for offending anyone and said that she still stands by her thought that other cultures should work on celebrating heroes of their own culture rather than trying to adopt others.
