George Soros Helping Build Better Society Through Policy Reform

George Soros is a man that is known for spending billions in philanthropy as well as pulling strings in the political circles to promote democratic ideals and achieve his political objectives. George Soros has contributed billions in areas of education, health, economic development, and various other humanitarian efforts across the globe. The best part about George Soros is that he doesn’t hesitate to speak his mind or doing what he feels in his heart is right.

However, he recently announced that he would be giving away the majority of his wealth, amounting to nearly $18 Billion, to the Open Society Foundation. He believes that the cynical politics that is in play today can be much worse than what has happened in the past due to bad political moves.

George Soros and his family had to immigrate to London, England in 1947 after the Nazis took control of Hungary. It was to escape imminent death under the Nazis control. In England, George Soros took admission in the famous London School of Economics, where he pursued studies in the field of philosophy and completed graduation as well as masters in philosophy. While he was studying philosophy at the London School of Economics, George Soros came in contact with the Karl Popper’s theory of Open Society, which profoundly influenced him. It is the basis of the democratic ideology that he supports today and propagates as well across the globe.

As a businessman, George Soros is considered to be one of the smartest investors ever born, and he made his fortune from the very little. Even though he came from an affluent family, he can be called a self-made man who survived in New York while doing entry level jobs at Merchant Bank. He started his company, Soros Fund Management, in 1973 and just a couple of years; his firm grew to become one of the most prominent names in the financial world.
